Creation Stories III: Maker of Stars

The third of 3 Misha Micro-Operas in the full moon-sacred series Creation Stories released on the Autumn Full Moons. This one, below, celebrates the November Full Moon in Taurus: Maker of Stars is inspired by Ancient Greek cosmogony.

Chaos
Abyss
All is Darkness: Maker of Stars

My writing, above, is inspired by Works and Days and Theogony by Hesiod (circa 800 CE). Translated by Stanley Lombardo (1993). Indianapolis: Hackett Publishing.

Creation Stories II: Edge of Sky

The second of 3 Misha Micro-Operas in the full moon-sacred series Creation Stories released on the Autumn Full Moons. This one, below, celebrates the October Full Moon in Aries: Edge of Sky is inspired by a fragment of Norse cosmogony in the Icelandic Poetic Edda, circa 13th century CE (the stories are far older than the manuscripts!).

Edge of Sky
Misha Penton: voices, music, words, film

No sea, no sand
No waves, no land
No earth, no sky
No forests
Sun holds a sliver of moon
She grasps the edge of sky
Night is named, moon is named
Morning named, midday named
Afternoon and evening named
And the wheel of time begins to spin

My writing, above, is inspired by the beginning of the Poetic Edda - ‘Vǫluspá’ - wherein a seeress summoned by Odin tells of the beginning of the world and many other things...

Inspired by these translations:

Creation Stories I: Over the Water

The first of 3 Misha Micro-Operas in the full moon-sacred series Creation Stories released on the Autumn Full Moons. The first one, below, celebrates the September Full Moon in Pisces: Over the Water inspired by Genesis I.

The poetic energies of the Full Moon in Pisces are imaginative, changeable, intuitive, and creative. Pisces is also my Sun Sign so I’m intimately familiar with riding its mutable waves. Hang on!

Over the Water
Misha Penton: voices, music, words, film

The earth unformed, formless
The void
With darkness
Over the surface of the deep
And wind
Sweeping over the water

Inspired by Genesis I
Berlin, Adele, and Marc Zvi Brettler. 2014. The Jewish Study Bible. New York: Oxford University Press.

Next month: Creation Story III will be released on the November Full Moon, inspired by the Greek Mythology. Later this year you can collect all of my micro works on Bandcamp with exclusive goodies to go with—stay tuned, stay safe, and #StayInspired
