BE FIERCE

I’m a very infrequent art journaler. I love the idea of art journaling, which isn’t so much journaling as it is mess-making. Not that I’m averse to messes (I am, a little averse to messes and I’m not one of those chaos learners with the mad scientist creative space). I haven’t made space to make big art messes and visual art is messy. I’m a painter (sometimes) and I’ve had studio spaces to make messes in, and I’ve cleaned acrylic paint off of my home’s beautiful wood floors and there are permeant streaks of paint on the garage floor—but generally, I find it a pain to deal with visual art inside my house—thus the infrequent art journaler bit. The pic above is a page from one of my art journals: gessoed and layered with acrylic and written in silver marker: FIERCE — one of my favorite words!

And I LOVE WORDS! Fierce is from the Old French fiers ‘fierce, brave, proud’, and from Latin ferus ‘untamed’.

Untamed. Yeah!

BE FIERCE: assert your differences—your unique you-ness—‘integrate don’t negate’ and let your gifts mold you! (inspired by Peter Bergman’s 18 Minutes).
